Ongoing Lactation Support in Austin
Responsive, relationship-based care from pregnancy through the fourth trimester.
Imagine having a “lactation consultant in your pocket,” offering you evidence-based information, holistic support, and compassion without judgment every step of the way.
No more asking Dr. Google at 3AM, no more conflicting advice from 37 different healthcare providers and family members, no more questioning your own parenting instinct.
I’m here to guide you through your lactation journey, through birth, the early days with your newborn, and the rest of the “fourth trimester.”
Why ongoing support?
Feeding changes quickly. The question you have in the first week postpartum may be completely different from the one you have at three weeks, six weeks, or when pumping, bottles, sleep, or returning to work enter the picture.
Packages give us room to respond as breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply, sleep, and your family’s needs evolve. Instead of starting over every time something changes, you’ll have an IBCLC who already knows your baby, your feeding history, your goals, your mental-health context, and what we’ve already tried.
For families who enroll during pregnancy, a package lets you reserve your due date and guarantees postpartum availability. You won’t have to wonder who will be available when baby arrives; your support is already in place.
Ongoing support can be particularly valuable for anxious and neurodivergent parents, families navigating perinatal mood and anxiety concerns, NICU or late-preterm feeding, sensory challenges, previous feeding trauma, or anyone who simply feels calmer knowing they have a familiar expert in their corner.
Specialized, whole-family care
My approach is evidence-based, mental-health-aware, nervous-system-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming. Feeding decisions do not happen in a vacuum: your recovery, sensory needs, sleep, anxiety level, executive-function load, family structure, and values all matter.
If you tend to research everything, feel flooded by conflicting advice, struggle when plans change, or worry that every feeding decision has a “right” answer, ongoing care gives us space to slow the process down, identify what matters, and make adjustments without turning feeding into another thing you have to optimize perfectly.
Support that grows with you and your baby.
Feeding is not a one-time problem to solve. Breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, combination feeding, milk supply, and your baby’s needs can change from week to week.
Ongoing lactation support gives you continuity, responsive guidance, and a familiar provider who can help you adjust as things change- rather than starting over every time a new question comes up.

“Heather is so helpful! My second son was in the NICU for a week, had a severe tongue tie and flow confusion…Heather was referred by a friend and was able to meet quickly for a home visit. She introduced simple ways to improve his latch and nursing overall as well as provide guidance around my pumping schedule. She was very easy going, did not make me feel judged at all and was kind!...I highly recommend her services!”

The accessibility through virtual and in-home visits, plus text support, made all the difference. We felt truly supported every step of the way. Can’t recommend her highly enough!”
Expecting twins?
Feeding two babies may involve additional planning around milk supply, pumping, bottles, combination feeding, logistics, and sustainable routines. Twin support can be tailored to help you create a feeding plan that works for your family.
Insurance, HSA, and Payment Information
Many families ask about insurance coverage for lactation visits.
While I do not bill insurance directly, many insurance plans will reimburse for lactation visits with an IBCLC. I provide superbills that you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
I also accept HSA and FSA cards, which many families use for prenatal and postpartum lactation visits and packages.
If you plan to use insurance reimbursement, I recommend calling your insurance provider and asking about their reimbursement rate for out-of-network lactation care.
FAQs
-
A package can be helpful when you want continuity instead of treating each feeding question as a separate event. Feeding challenges and feeding goals often evolve over time—even when things are going well.
Ongoing support allows us to adjust your plan as your baby grows, protect milk supply when needed, introduce pumping and bottles thoughtfully, and support transitions without starting from scratch each time.
Packages also provide something a one-time visit cannot: reserved access. Prenatal package clients can reserve their due date and have guaranteed postpartum availability, and all package clients receive priority scheduling and between-visit support.
That can be especially valuable if uncertainty tends to amplify anxiety, if you are neurodivergent and benefit from continuity and predictable support, or if a previous feeding experience left you wanting a familiar provider already in place.
A package is not necessary for everyone. If you’re unsure how much help you’ll need, you can absolutely begin with a single visit.

Feeding isn’t a one-time problem to solve—it’s a dynamic process that changes week by week in the postpartum period. What works in the early days may need to be adjusted as your baby becomes more alert, your milk supply regulates, pumping or bottles are introduced, or your family settles into new routines.
Six to twelve weeks gives us time to respond in real time—supporting breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, or combination feeding while helping you feel more confident and less alone in the decision-making.
Longer support does not mean something has to be wrong for six or twelve weeks. Some visits may involve troubleshooting. Others may be about refining what is already working, preparing for a transition, or simply having a trusted expert to check in with as your baby changes.
-
Many families choose ongoing support not because something is wrong, but because they want things to keep going well.
We might explore more comfortable or sustainable feeding positions, practice nursing in a carrier, fine-tune pumping, introduce bottles, prepare for returning to work, or talk through sleep, solids, developmental shifts, and the day-to-day realities of feeding as your baby grows.
-
Absolutely.
You do not have to know ahead of time how much support you will need. You can begin with a single in-home lactation visit for $375. If you decide within 48 hours that ongoing support would be helpful, you may apply that visit fee toward a package.
You don’t need someone to hand you a plan once and disappear.
If what you want is continuity—someone who gets to know your family, understands the full context, and can help you adjust as feeding evolves—ongoing support may be the right fit.
